Gjon Mili (1904-1984) was an Albanian-American photographer best known for his pioneering work in capturing movement and light. Born in Albania, Mili immigrated to the United States in 1923 and began his career as a photographer for publications such as LIFE magazine. In 1949, Mili collaborated with Pablo Picasso on a series of photographs for LIFE magazine, which showcased Picasso’s unique artistic process as he painted with light in a dark room.
