Yves Klein (1928-1962) was a French artist known for his influential work in performance art, painting, and sculpture. Born in Nice, France, Klein is best known for creating International Klein Blue (IKB), a deep blue hue he patented in 1960. A leading figure in the Nouveau Réalisme movement, Klein’s minimalist compositions and exploration of pure color, form, and space continue to inspire contemporary artists. His “Anthropometry” series, using nude models as living brushes, and experiments with unconventional materials like sponges, fire, and air, pushed the boundaries of art. Klein’s innovative contributions have left an enduring mark on the art world.
